For Maddison, Bales & Moo has always been about more than animals. It’s about creating a place where families can slow down, experience something together, and make the kind of memories that stick with them long after they leave.

With bachelor’s degrees in Agribusiness Management and Animal & Nutritional Sciences, Maddison’s love for animals and agriculture has always been intertwined with a passion for building, creating, and bringing big ideas to life. At Bales & Moo, those worlds finally came together.

Becoming a mom gave that dream an even deeper purpose. Maddison wanted to build something her son could grow up alongside — something rooted in family, agriculture, kindness, and a genuine love for animals. That dream became Bales & Moo.

Today, Maddison has a hand in nearly every part of the experience, from caring for the animals and dreaming up new additions to designing events, creating educational experiences, managing the business, and making sure every little detail feels special. But her favorite part will always be seeing Bales & Moo through the eyes of the families who visit — watching a child meet an animal for the first time, learn something new, or leave with a story they can’t wait to tell.

Because at the heart of Bales & Moo is a simple hope: that everyone who walks through the gate feels welcomed, makes a memory, and leaves loving animals and agriculture just a little more than they did when they arrived.

For Ryan, agriculture isn’t something he discovered — it’s something he grew up living.

Raised around farming and animals, Ryan learned from an early age that agriculture is about far more than the work itself. It’s about responsibility, patience, community, and caring for something bigger than yourself. Those lessons have followed him throughout his life and ultimately became part of the foundation Bales & Moo was built upon.

As the Berkeley County Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension Agent, Ryan has dedicated his career to serving farmers, families, and the agricultural community around him. At Bales & Moo, he gets to bring that same passion home — helping create a place where the next generation can experience agriculture firsthand, ask questions, get a little dirty, and develop a connection with animals they may otherwise never have the opportunity to know.

Behind the scenes, Ryan is quite literally helping build Bales & Moo from the ground up. From caring for the animals and developing enclosures to maintaining the farm and tackling the never-ending list of projects that come with bringing an idea like this to life, his knowledge of animal and production agriculture is woven into nearly every corner of the farm.

But perhaps the most meaningful part is where it’s all happening. Bales & Moo is being built on the same family farm that helped shape Ryan into the person he is today. Now, he gets to watch his own son grow up surrounded by animals, agriculture, family, and the same values that shaped him — while opening the gates so other families can experience a little piece of that life, too.

For Ryan, Bales & Moo is more than a farm or a business. It’s a way to honor where he came from, serve the community he loves, and help ensure that a love and understanding of agriculture continues for generations to come.
